IRS Tax Deadline 2017—File your Taxes by Tuesday, April 18, 2017
- Deadline to file individual taxes for 2016.
- Last day to make a contribution to a Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, SEP IRA or solo 401(k) for the 2016 tax year.
- IRA contributions for 2016 can be made up until the April 18th
- 2016 IRA/Roth IRA contribution limit is $5,500 ($6,500 if you are 50 or older).
- Mailed check contributions must be postmarked on or before this date.
- Wired contributions must be received by the close of business on or before this date.
- SEP IRA contributions:
- Cannot exceed the lesser of 25% of compensation or $54,000 for 2017 ($53,000 for 2015 and 2016 subject to annual cost-of-living adjustments for later years).
- Employer contributions must always be coded in the year received.
