What Investment Trends Are Making An Impact In 2010?
By Mark Fissel, RFC

Top 3 Investment Themes to think about for the second-half of 2010

1. Double-Dip Recession:
While we don’t anticipate a double-dip recession, a recent market correction has occurred. We enjoyed a steady climb in the markets during 2009 and first part of 2010. However, volatility (risk) is increasing and the ‘low hanging fruit’ has been harvested. Be aware of the risk within your portfolio as we approach the second half of 2010.

2. Roth IRA Conversion:
This year only, all IRAs can be converted into Roth IRA’s. If you’re making over $200,000 per year, it would be foolish not to analyze it. We’ve been amazed how many have not yet considered converting a portion or strategically targeting specific assets.

3. Tax Increase:
In 2011, Bush’s tax cuts will expire and in 2013 investment income is set to be taxed at a higher rate. Prepare now and take advantage of ways to minimize those effects. With dividends set to have a tax rate of triple the current rate by 2013, for some people, there is a need to analyze tax efficient strategies.

Investing has never been a one-size-fits-all analysis so in making major portfolio changes, we recommend a reliance on your investment advisor.
